WHAT WE DO

The Office of Labor and Employee Relations (OLER) serves as the University’s chief representative in all labor relations matters. OLER also provides guidance on employment policies for non-represented staff and advice on workplace issues to ensure the fair and consistent treatment of all Harvard staff.

Key functions include collective bargaining and administration of the University’s contracts and agreements with the nine unions on campus representing ~6,000 clerical, technical, service and trades workers; University-wide communication and training on labor relations issues; and advising on the application of employment policies and contract provisions, including related legal requirements.
