Harvard Human Resources is responsible for management of the University's Affirmative Action programs. The Director of Affirmative Action and Diversity Analytics works with liaisons across the University (Harvard Key protected) to ensure that good-faith efforts are undertaken to diversify the workforce and meet annual affirmative action goals, to monitor compliance with University policies and equal opportunity laws, and to serve as the University's representative to the federal government in matters related to contractor compliance and affirmative action.

Voluntary Self Identification

As a lawful and responsible employer, Harvard is obligated to invite applicants and employees to voluntarily identify their sex, race and ethnicity, veteran’s status and disability.  This information is used to measure Harvard’s progress against its:

  • aim to be a fully representative and inclusive organization that provides equal employment opportunity
  • annual affirmative action goals
  • hiring benchmark for protected veterans of 5.9%
  • utilization (or employment) goal for Individuals with Disabilities (IwD) of 7%
