Mindful Eating

This free course will introduce participants to mindfulness and guide them in three foundational mindfulness practices. They will then apply mindfulness to issues concerning eating, and engage in 3-4 practices to cultivate more awareness around our relationship to food. Participants should leave the session with several concrete suggestions and practices about how to modify their eating behaviors.

Please note: dried apricots and peanuts will be used during the mindful eating exercise. Participants with food allergies should contact the Office of Work/Life at worklife@harvard....

Mindfulness and Compassion Lecture Series: Yogic Meditation to the Rescue for Struggling Meditators

Learning meditation and achieving mindfulness can seem as elusive as catching a unicorn for some new to the practice. Enter yogic meditation, a practice of directed breathing coordinated with simple body movements. This practice gives the restless mind more "doing" to latch onto, and tends to yield a focused, quieter, even peaceful state of mind, for many new students who previously found only squirrels in the attic. It can provide a useful entre to meditation, an important and satisfying "pre-mindfulness".

HUPD Self-Defense Class: Practical

The basic self-defense course is a prerequisite to this course. This is a one-time course lasting approximately 3-4 hours depending on the number of participants. In this course, students will review previously learned techniques and then have the opportunity to apply them in real life scenarios. This portion of the course is the most popular among our participants. Space is limited to 20 participants and on a first come first serve basis.
