Everyone is an artist at ARTS FIRST! Make art with students and staff on the Science Center Plaza.

Wheel Throwing
Join instructors from the OFA Ceramics Program and aspiring potters from Quincy, Cabot and Mather Houses for demonstrations using the potter’s wheel. Then create your own masterpiece!

Printing with Plants
Join the Harvard Art Museums’ Materials Lab to learn how to make sun prints with fruit, veggie and flower extracts and to create prints with potato stamps and seaweed-based jelly printing plates. Designed in conjunction with the White Shadows: Anneliese Hager and the Camera-less Photograph exhibition of photograms and the exhibition of prints from the Brandywine Workshop and Archives: Creative Communities.

Bug Painting
We’re not painting pictures of bugs. We’re painting with bugs. Join the Harvard Museum of Natural History to explore how cochineal insects can be used to make a beautiful red color.

Painting a Life Tile
Decorate a tile with a representation of your favorite memories. Tiles will be assembled into a mosaic to be given to the Cambridge Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.

Silken Petals, Fabric Blooms
Learn the art of making eternally blooming flowers, bows and other small decorations with just a needle, thread, ribbon and maybe a bit of glue.
