Join us for the 2021 Gustav Pollak Lecture featuring Richard Thaler, Charles R. Walgreen Distinguished Service Professor of Behavioral Science and Economics at University of Chicago and recipient of the 2017 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, and moderator Todd Rogers, Professor of Public Policy at Harvard Kennedy School.
Behavioral science in policy making has rapidly expanded, inspired in crucial ways by Richard Thaler’s groundbreaking research in behavioral economics, finance, and the psychology of decision-making. Thaler will discuss themes from the forthcoming revision of his global best-selling book Nudge (co-authored with Harvard Law School Professor Cass Sunstein). Among the new ideas included are “sludge”, the “nasty stuff” that clogs up many aspects of life, and “smart disclosure” which is the idea that two decades into the 21st century the way required disclosures are transmitted should be updated to at least 20th century technology.
