The Civil Disagreement Series is sponsored by the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics, in collaboration with Harvard University's Office of Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging. These moderated conversations bring together policy and subject experts from different political viewpoints to discuss a current-events topic. The goal is to hold conversations that people may feel they can't otherwise have, and model thoughtful, reflective engagement on hard issues with the firm belief that we have much to learn from opposing perspectives. 

For this entry in the series, Responding to the Climate Change Crisis, the panelists will participate in a conversation about how we—individuals, the US, and humanity—should attend to the crisis facing our planet. The aim of this conversation is to better understand both the panelists’ different orientations to act on climate change as well as the beliefs and values that animate their positions. Moderator Rebecca Henderson, the John and Natty McArthur University Professor at the Harvard Business School, will facilitate conversation among esteemed panelists: former Representative Francis Rooney; Noël Bakhtian, Director of the Berkeley Lab Energy Storage Center; Julian Brave NoiseCat of Data for Progress; and Benji Backer of the American Conservation Coalition.
