Join us for the premiere of art-inspired compositions by Harvard students!
This semester, students from Professor Yvette Jackson’s Introduction to Composition course (Music 4) virtually explored the Harvard Art Museums collections to complete their final assignment: composing an original piece of music inspired by a work of art.
This special online premiere will feature an introduction from Professor Jackson and short presentations by the student composers about their creative process. Each composition will then be brought to life by the Parker Quartet, Harvard’s Grammy Award–winning ensemble-in-residence, performing in Paine Hall.
The performance will be broadcast on the Harvard University Department of Music’s YouTube channel. To join, follow this link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOTXRZa17HQkRQW0egdB2kg (no pre-registration required).
This program is presented in collaboration with the Harvard University Department of Music and the Parker Quartet and features original compositions by Harvard students Clayton Stephenson, Sedona Farber, Scott Mahon, Will Rowley, Joel Sabando, Marine Debondue, and David Kennedy-Yoon.
Following the premiere, the performance will be available to view on YouTube until Friday, December 18.
