With the Delta variant fueling numbers of new coronavirus cases and deaths in Africa, global health experts are increasingly concerned about the impacts of the pandemic on the continent. Despite early efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19, African leaders are now coping with a “third wave,” complicated by limited vaccination accessibility and resources.

A series of studies by researchers from Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and colleagues from the Africa Research, Implementation Science and Education (ARISE) Network are spotlighting the pandemic’s health and socioeconomic impacts specifically in sub-Saharan Africa. Join senior author and principal investigator Wafaie Fawzi, Richard Saltonstall Professor of Population Sciences, and professor of nutrition, epidemiology, and global health at Harvard Chan School, and Halima Gikandi, Africa Correspondent, The World, for this live online Q&A.
