Flow Through

Hunnewell Building

Maria Finkelmeier and the Kadence Ensemble will perform Flow Through, Finkelmeier’s 15 minute composition for large ensemble to be played in an outdoor setting. Featuring thirty performers (brass players, singers, and percussionists), the work is inspired by the fluidity and importance of water to living organisms. Flow Through reflects the power of this compound, that brings awe, serenity, catastrophe, and breath to our planet. The musicians will mingle their music with artist Fujiko Nakaya’s fog sculpture as both descend the hillside and flow among the trees and the audience. Bring a blanket or low lawn chair to sit on. Rain Date: September 23

Three performances on 9/22: 4:30, 5:30, and 6:30.

Named a “one-woman dynamo” by The Boston Globe, and Boston Best 2018 "Creative Catalyst" by The Improper Bostonian, Maria Finkelmeier partnered with the Arnold Arboretum in June 2016 to present Inuksuit, a work for 92 percussionists in the landscape. The production was named one of the “Top 10 Classical Performances of 2016” by The Boston Globe.

Fog x FLO is a five site fog installation along the Emerald Necklace to celebrate the Emerald Necklace Conservancy's 20th anniversary.
