Difficult Conversations

Based on required pre-reading of the book Difficult Conversations, the workshop concludes with participants preparing for, and having practiced, their own difficult conversation by leveraging learning-partners.

Come and experience a very unique opportunity in the Arnold Arboretum's Bonsai and Penjing Collection of dwarfed potted plants. With an Arboretum volunteer, you will be able to go inside the pavilion, hear about the history, culture, and care of these amazing and very special plants.

Cambridge Open Archives

The Harvard Art Museums Archives is participating in Cambridge Open Archives, an annual event that offers the rare chance to visit a number of unique archives and collecting agencies in Cambridge. Staff from the Harvard Art Museums Archives will present archival materials based on this year’s theme, “Living and Dying in Cambridge.” Talks will be held at 4pm and 5pm, in the museums’ Materials Lab.

Grand Illustrated Lecture and Magic Lantern Show

In the 17th century, scientists, educators, and philosophers used the magic lantern—a device that can project images on a wall or screen—as an instrument. But when the device got into the hands of showmen and conjurers, it became a form of popular entertainment, frightening and thrilling audiences for hundreds of years. Creating Your Best Resume

This workshop covers the general principles of creating an effective resume, including a discussion of common pitfalls that can prevent you from being selected for interviews. Examples will be used to highlight a clear, focused resume, targeted to specific skills and the experience sought by hiring managers. This session will provide an outline of best practices for writing resumes and participants are encouraged to use provided tools to continue their resume-writing process. The class will conclude with a brief peer review of resumes.
