Director of Labor Relations and Employee Relations: Paul Curran
WHAT WE DO
The Office of Labor and Employee Relations (OLER) serves as the University’s chief representative in all labor relations matters. OLER also provides guidance on employment policies for non-represented staff and advice on workplace issues to ensure the fair and consistent treatment of all Harvard staff.
Key functions include collective bargaining and administration of the University’s contracts and agreements with the nine unions on campus representing ~6,000 clerical, technical, service and trades workers; University-wide communication and training on labor relations issues; and advising on the application of employment policies and contract provisions, including related legal requirements.
Harvard University and the Harvard Union of Clerical and Technical Workers (HUCTW) reached a tentative agreement for a successor contract on October 16, 2018, which was ratified overwhelmingly by the membership on December 4, 2018. The new contract will go into effect as of October 1, 2018 and extend through September 30, 2021. Click the link above for more information.
