Bring your lunch to this in-depth look at how to evaluate a flexible work arrangement proposal based on Harvard's University-wide flexible work guidelines. Nancy Costikyan, the director of Harvard’s Office of Work/Life, will review the essential ingredients of a flex proposal; how to assess your own attitude about workplace flexibility in general and flex for individual employees specifically; how to identify ways to evaluate the success of an arrangement after a trial period; and what to do when employees disclose personal reasons behind the proposal that trigger your emotions or certain legal requirements--or both. Issues of trust, candid conversations, transparency, and fairness will also be explored.
Pre-Work:Optional pre-work includes a review of the online guidelines at https://hr.harvard.edu/flexwork
