What’s New for 2021
New Vision Plan Carrier: EyeMed
For 2021, Harvard’s vision plan will move to a new carrier, EyeMed, which will replace Davis Vision. If you’re currently enrolled in the vision plan, you will automatically be moved to the EyeMed plan and don’t need to take any action unless you want to make a change. Learn more about EyeMed by visiting their fun and interactive Virtual Benefits Fair; use code GV96N8HL to sign in, or call 866-804-0982 to learn more about this coverage.
Changes for SEIU Arboretum members
Under the most recent contract for SEIU Arboretum members, there will be a number of changes to Harvard health plans for 2021, including changes to copayments, adoption of the four salary tier structure for medical plans (already in effect for other employees), four coverage levels (for individuals and families) for medical, dental and vision plans, adoption of the enhanced dental plan and more. SEIU Arboretum members also continue to have access to the SEIU health plan. You can find details in the 2021 Open Enrollment Guide.
Prescription Copayment Assistance Program
Starting January 1, 2021, Harvard will offer a new program through PillarRx Consulting, a prescription benefit consulting firm, which finds co-pay assistance programs that may be available from drug manufacturers for certain specialty medications. If you are prescribed an eligible medication, you will be contacted by PillarRx to facilitate enrollment in the manufacturer programs. To use the program, you must enroll and fill the prescription through Accredo, ESI’s specialty pharmacy. (Please note: Manufacturer assistance dollars may not accumulate toward deductibles and/or out-of-pocket maximums.)
Confirmation of your 2021 Open Enrollment elections and new ID cards
Active faculty and staff members will receive a confirmation of 2021 elections from Harvard in November, even if they make no changes. Please review promptly and contact Harvard Benefits immediately if there are any errors. Retirees will only receive a confirmation if they make changes.
If you enroll in or change your medical, dental or vision coverage during Open Enrollment, you will receive your plan ID card(s) in late December. If you elect an FSA or HSA for the first time in 2021, you will receive your Benefit Strategies debit card in December.
If you newly elect or increase your supplemental life insurance coverage, newly elect or increase dependent life insurance for a spouse/domestic partner or elect long term disability (LTD), you will need to complete a medical statement form(s) and mail to the vendor for approval. Your new coverage will not be effective until the coverage is approved by the vendor. Once approved, deductions will begin.
