What is the status of negotiations with UNITE HERE Local 26 and the timeline for meetings?
The teams have met regularly since negotiations began in March 2026. Nine collective bargaining sessions have been held as of September 28, 2026. On October 5, 2026, the University suggested to the union that the two parties participate together in free mediation through the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS). The role of FMCS as an independent federal agency is to help parties in bargaining reach agreement so that they can prevent, minimize, and resolve work stoppages and labor disputes. Mediation is voluntary and requires both parties’ assent.
