As every office worker knows, sitting for long periods can result in stiffness and discomfort. The gentle stretches and postures taught in this program are designed to increase flexibility at the joints – thereby improving one's range of motion – and also aid in relaxing the hips and lower portions of the body to increase one's ability to sit with ease. Because this practice blends movement in the body with the breath, it is an ideal extension of mindfulness practice.
No previous knowledge of yoga is necessary. This class does not require special clothing or equipment.
Tea Master Brian Kirbis, who will open each of our sessions with a tea pouring to set a tone of well-being and attention, will take us through a formal tea ceremony. As a global community online, we will be able to sit and sip in collective silence to contemplate all we have heard and taken into our minds during these sessions. Brian will close our gathering with a meditation for peace and conscious actions on behalf of this place we call home, Earth.
Prerequisite: Participation in this workshop is limited to individuals who have already participated in a “Mindfulness and Anxiety” workshop with Paul Fulton at Harvard.
Description: Participants of Mindfulness and Anxiety are invited back for a deeper dive into the learnings, a mindful meditation, and to discuss your questions. This follow-up session is held within a month of the first session.
