Rabbit Taxidermy Workshop

Learn how to mount your very own rabbit on a plaque to hang on your wall, with no experience necessary! Using a sustainably sourced, tanned hide, students will learn how to carve and wrap custom taxidermy forms, and apply that knowledge to create an adorable half-bunny taxidermy mount. Students will choose from a variety of fur colors and plaque shapes in order to create their own special product. Each student will leave with a finished rabbit ready for a two-week drying period, after which it can be proudly displayed. A photographic guide to the skinning process will be provided to...

Entomology Workshop: Pinning and Learning

Discover the world of insects in a hands-on entomology workshop. Students will learn how to prepare and preserve three types of deceased specimens for collections and display, including a large cicada, an Atlas beetle, and the choice of a butterfly or moth. Learn about the science of invertebrates from Harvard invertebrate biologist Shoyo Sato, who will introduce us to some of the members of the museum's live collection. Take a healthy walk through the cool landscape of the Arboretum. You will enjoy the pared down beauty of our woody plant collection and hear about the Arboretum's history and highlights. After the walk, warm up in the Visitor Center with hot chocolate or tea, and talk more with your docent guide and Arboretum staff members.

Art Study Center Seminar: Reigning over a Hellish Bureaucracy—The Ten Kings of Hell

In this seminar, Wai Yee Chiong and Penley Knipe, the Philip and Lynn Straus Senior Conservator of Works on Paper and the head of the paper lab, will examine a series of images of the Ten Kings of Hell. These kings are shown delivering judgment on sinners, as the latter journey through the afterlife. Chiong and Knipe will look closely at the format, function, and context in which these works were produced and discuss related conservation projects.

The seminar will take place in the Art Study Center, Level 4.

하버드 미술관은 전시회 “폭동: 제리코의 작품 세계” (전시기간: 2018년 9월 1일~2019년 1월 6일) 심층 해설을 제공합니다. 이 전시 해설은 제시 박 (루소 큐레토리얼 펠로우)가 진행합니다.

“폭동: 제리코의 작품 세계”전은 30대 초반에 사망했음에도 불구하고 큰 예술적 유산을 남긴 낭만파의 선구자, 테오도르 제리코 (Théodore Géricault, 1791–1824)의 작품들을 다룹니다. 하버드 미술관의 소장품과 보스턴 지역 세 소장자의 대여품으로 이루어진 약 40점의 소묘, 수채화, 석판화 및 회화등 다양한 매체를 통해 사회적, 정치적으로 관여한 작가를 새롭게 선보입니다.

전시 해설 참가비는 입장료에 포함되어 있습니다. 총 15명까지 참여할수 있으며 티켓이 필요합니다. 티켓은 해설 시작 10분 전부터 매표소에서 받으실 수 있습니다.
